About Barbie

Barbie graduated from Samuel Merritt College with her Master of Phyiscal Therapy in 1995 and has been practicing physical therapy with a broad range of patients for the past 16 years. Her skills and experience span a wide range of ailments, ages and athletic abilities with her main focus being myofascial release, trigger point release and traditional manual therapies.

In 2005 Barbie founded Barbie Thomas Physical Therapy and has developed a long list of success stories, repeat clients and referrals, which are a testimony to her precise blend of education, experience and passion for healing her patients. Her desire to truly help her patients is manifested through her customized programs for each individual need.

Prior to launching her company, Barbie was a physical therapist at Advance Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in Sun City, California. She specialized in an eclectic blend of manual therapy techniques to balance the muscular forces on the bone structure in order to alleviate pain and improve function. She also worked as a therapist for Walker Physical Therapy in Sun City and Healthsouth Corporation, Inc., at various locations across the United States.

Barbie strives to be on the top of trends and medical breakthroughs while maintaining her traditional approach to pain management. She continues her education through courses and seminars and stays involved in the local community through developing programs and acting as a consultant. Barbie has taken an extra step to develop her skills to better treat her clients plagued with hand and wrist injuries; geriatric physical therapy needs; shoulder, neck and back pain; spine specialization requirements, sports performance with an emphasis in soccer and golf, foot and ankle injuries, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis and treatment through the use of pilates.

Her passion for physical therapy and truly helping the community is apparent through her lengthy involvement as a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, as a physical therapy consultant for Disabled Golfer’s Foundation and her customized programs for traveling soccer and baseball teams. She has traveled across the nation developing physical therapy programs, aiding patients— young and old –and delivering presentations to physicians regarding the benefits of physical therapy, as well as the similarities and differences in chiropractics.

During her time at Samuel Merritt College, Barbie interned in outpatient orthopedic, cardiac, neuro, pediatrics and traumatic brain injury and while serving as the class president, received the college’s Leadership and Service Award.

Barbie specializes in myofascial pain management using traditional physical therapy approach, as well as, manual techniques of massage, trigger point release and myofascial release. She strongly believes in problem solving for each individual patient and is dedicated to developing a customized treatment to ensure complete healing and long-term, positive results.
